I recently bought the PSP version of Breath of Fire III, which I used to play on PSOne a long time ago. I was overwhelmed with nostalgia and felt like I had to draw my first fan art of my three favourite characters in the game - the protagonist (Ryu), Rei and Teepo.

Now, I had absolutely no idea what their house looked like, so I just drew it out of my memory. As I've played the game for some hours again, I noticed that it doesn't look like that at all, but at least it's quite similar in some ways. Like the logs surrounding it and all that.

As for Rei's appearance, from his sprite I can tell that his clothes are purple, he's got bangs and his hair is long. There's not really a reference of him except for when he's older, and by then he's changed both his hair and his clothes. I already knew about his baggy pants and the fact that his chest is showing. He's got the same kind of outfit when he's older, except the colour scheme changes.

The only thing I think I got wrong on this particular outfit is the belt and the shoes. Instead of green, the upper part of his shoes are yellow, and his belt is red. I realize now that it would look much nicer, too.

Now, as for his hair, I decided to keep those spiky parts of it to make it look more like him (since his hair is pretty damn spiky after some years). I just removed the bandana and gave him some bangs et voìla.

I realize I was a bit sloppy with some things in this picture. I hate these kind of backgrounds, especially colouring trees. Maybe you can notice that if you look closer. The roof of their house is also an example of me being sloppy. The logs are proof of it as well.

If I were to name anything I'm happy with in this piece, it's Rei sitting in the foreground, the clouds and the other two guys further down. I'm usually not good at drawing "small people" if you know what I mean. It's easier to put in details if they're close up.
